 books i read september

14.10.2014

I really wanted to read a lot in September. I was so excited to finally read the third book in the Throne of glass series. When it comes to reading September was a disappointment. Here are the books I read:

1. Heir of fire by Sarah J. Maasthree stars
Page number: 576
Publication date: September 2014
Translated in Bulgarian: the release date is November 29th

I was looking forward to the third book in the Throne of glass series by Sarah J.Mass, I really enjoyed the first two books, you can read more about them here. I was disappointed in Hair of fire. The thing I loved about this series was that the story is somewhere between a high fantasy and a fairy tale. Throne of glass is a fantasy series for girls. Heir of fire was quite different from the first books in the series. This book is a high fantasy novel without all the fairy tale elements. I personally was disappointed. Heir of fire got a lot of positive reviews and I guess that if you enjoy books like Game of thrones or Lord of the rings you'll like this book. It was hard for me to go through all 576 pages and I don't think that I'll keep following the series.

2. Jony Ive: The Genius Behind Apple's Greatest Products by Leander Kahneythree stars
Page number: 314
Publication date: November 2013
Translated in Bulgarian: no

I am a huge fan of Apple's products, for me Jony Ive is a genius. Leander Kahney is the editor of the popular blog Cult of Mac which is a must read if you are a fan of Apple. This is the first book I have read about someone who wants to pursue a career as a designer. I can't say that this book is Jony Ive's biography, there is too little about his personal life and his character. Jony Ive: The Genius Behind Apple's Greatest Products is more about the design process and about Apple's products. If you have read Steve Jobs' biography (more here) you already know most of the story.

3. The Happiness of Pursuit: Find the Quest that will Bring Purpose to Your Life by Chris Guillebeaufour stars
Page number: 306
Publication date: September 2014
Translated in Bulgarian: no

This book is quite interesting and it is about people who undertake quests and go through challenges just like the heroes from the Greek mytology. Chris Guillebeau decides that he has to vistit every single country in the world and in his book he tells the stories of other people who do similar things. You can read about a woman who cooks every week a meal from a different part of the world, and about another woman who spends a year on a tree, and there's this story about a man who does not use any form of transportation for 10 years and walks by foot everywhere. I liked this book and I recommend it.
