Max Factor Smokey eye drama kit in 03 Sumptuous Golds

 3.02.2016

I've never been very interested in Max Factor's eyeshadows. When I spotted the Smokey eye drama kit in 03 Sumptuous Golds in the blog MakeupSavvy it was love at first sight. I really liked the colours. When these quads hit the drugstores I immediately got the bronzy gold one.

Max Factor Smokey eye drama kit contains 3 eyeshadows and 1 brow colour. There are 6 quads total, but I am not sure if all 6 are available in the drugstores. They are supposed to be color-cordinated with the colour of your eyes. I can't see how this can be possible when one of the shades is for your eyebrows. Sumptuous Golds is supposed to look great on women with brown eyes, but I think that these colours will suit everyone. If you want to use the darkest shade for your eyebrows though you have to be a brunette.

The packaging is plastic, it looks cheap and mine already broke. I am not a big fan of the shape of the two eyeshadow pans in the middle. It's too hard to get your brush in there. The formulation is somewhere between a cream and a powder. That's why blending the colours is not an easy job. The highly pigmented creamy formulation comes with a price tag - two parabens among the ingredients.

Sumptuous Golds is more of an everyday eyeshadow quad. The shades are easy to apply and the colours are really pretty. If you want something more sophisticated blending can be a challenge.

These eyeshadows deserve more attention than they are getting. They may have some minuses, but are also strongly pigmented and the colours are gorgeous.
