Becca Ombré Nudes Eye Palette

6.02.2017

I haven’t done a 2016 favorites this year, but I had to give a special shoutout to this palette, because I used it a lot last year. I ordered two products from the Becca/Jaclyn Hill collaboration last summer - the highlighting palette (review here) and the eyeshadow palette. I was waitlisted for both products and when the eyeshadow palette was withdrawn, Becca decided to compensate me with a discount code for my next purchase. Of course, I took advantage and bought the Ombré Nudes Eye Palette (link). I needed a matte neutral palette to replace my old Urban Decay Basics. I didn’t know back then that Urban Decay would come up with the Ultimate Basics in November (the review is here).
I was a little bit skeptical towards the Becca eyeshadows, because they have a total of two palettes in the range. Ombré Nudes contains cool toned neutrals, and Ombré Rouge - some interesting warm tones. I like them both, but I decided that Ombré Nudes is a better choice for me. It turned out to be a great purchase, I use it daily.

The packaging - I had seen the palette on photos online and I thought it looks very basic and boring. When I saw the packaging in real life, it really impressed me. If you are keen on design, you’ll love it. The packaging is very sleek, stable and stylish, and I would say it’s one of the reasons I reach out for this palette so much. Inside you get 5 eyeshadows, 1,7 g. each.

The colors - The eyeshadows in this palette are cool toned. If you love your warm neutrals, this product is not for you. I personally prefer the cool tones and I like the palette. My only complain is that the last two shades are too similar to each other. I use only one of them and I wish there was another highlighter instead of the second shade. In the palette you get a transition shade, a crease color, a highlighter and a dark brown. The main reason I like the palette is that I have everything I need in one place. All eyeshadows are mattes.

Becca Ombré Nudes Eye PaletteThe formulation - The eyeshadows are very pigmented, but for some unknown reason they don’t swatch very well. I enjoy the formulation, it’s buttery. The eyeshadows are easy to apply and blend beautifully, they kick off some powder when you apply them, but afterwards I have no problem with them.

A big disadvantage of this palette is the high price. Ombré Nudes costs almost as much as a NAKED palette and you get only 5 eyeshadows. Without the promo code I probably wouldn’t have bought it. I would say it’s more of a luxury purchase. It’s worth it if you think that these five eyeshadows are all you need. For me it was a good deal.
