The Maybelline nude eyeshadow palette is finally available in Bulgaria. I was way too curious about it so ended up buying it. The concept of this palette is quite interesting - the way the eyeshadows are ordered in the palette is supposed to help you combine the shades. On the back of the packaging they show you how to apply the eyeshadows depending on whether you want to use 2, 3 or 4 colours. This product is definitely targeted towards the newbies in makeup. The price is quite affordable - 8,50 euro. You get 12 eyeshadows around 0,8 g. each.
The reviews of this palette were mixed and my expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised because I ended up liking it. I really like the four shades that are in the middle of the palette and lately I’ve been using them every day for my makeup. The gold shade is really beautiful. The black colour also took me by surprise, it’s not as intense as MAC Carbon for example, but for a drugstore black is quite decent.
Most negative reviews are about the eyeshadows having a lot of fallout. To be honest I don’t think that’s entirely true. You can see some glitter under your eyes, but it’s not so bad. The only really disappointing eyeshadow was the lightest one - all you get is glitter, no pigmentation. The eyeshadows in Zoeva en taupe (review here) are way more powdery than these. Some of the shades in The nudes are not very pigmented, but after all the palette is quite affordable. The nudes is a good option for those of you who are just now starting out with makeup. There’s a good selection of shades that can help you practice - there’s a matte highlighter, some transition shades, a gold shade, dark colours. The only thing that kind of misses is a shimmery highlighter. The eyeshadows are relatively easy to blend. The idea of this palette is to make applying makeup simple, it won’t work as well if you want something more complicated.
The quality of the eyeshadows in The nudes is not as good as the quality in palettes like Urban Decay NAKED, but the price is much more affordable. Women who own a lot of makeup will also like some of the shades in the Maybelline palette.
My opinion is that with The nudes you get a decent palette for your money.
