Happy New Year! We survived 2015! I wish you joy, luck and health in 2016!
I spent the holidays being lazy. Tomorrow is the first working day so it's time for me to come back to the blogging world.
I wore the same mascara almost every day for the past two years, I'm talking about Benefit they're real!. I mentioned that I was done with my Christmas shopping in the midst of November. One of the things I wanted to get was a Lancôme mascara. I am a huge fan of Lancôme Hypnôse so I ended up getting one of the Christmas sets with the new Hypnôse Volume-à-Porter. I've been using it for more than a month so I can give you my opinion.
Every year Lancôme come up with their Christmas sets, you get two mini products plus the mascara. I've never been particularly impressed by the mini gifts. The eye pencil in the set is too harsh. This year we got a mini Lip Lover gloss. I've written a review of this product here, it is very similar to the Bourjois lip gloss. The previous years the set included the Bi-Facil makeup remover instead of the Lip Lover gloss. It is too strongly scented for my taste. I have to admit that the packaging of the mini lippie is very cute.
Volume-à-Porter is different than the previous Lancôme Hypnôse mascaras, it comes with a rubber brush. I usually like such brushes, but I am not a fan of this one. The problem is that it doesn't pick enough product and you need to build it up just to see some effect on the lashes. With Benefit they're real! my lashes needed just a swipe. If you are lazy like me you may not like Volume-à-Porter.
The mascara lengthens and separates the lashes. I was impressed by the fact that it holds a curl throughout the day. As you can guess by the name it is supposed to be a voluminous mascara. I don't think it adds volume. This was definitely strange. If you are looking for volume I don't recommend this mascara. The formula lasts all day without smudging, it's easy to remove.
Lancôme Hypnôse Volume-à-Porter is not a bad mascara, but it's not the best Lancôme mascara. Hypnôse Star is my favourite (Betty Boop is a factor in my choice too). There are some amazing mascaras in the drugstores. Spending a lot of money for a product that is just OK is not worth it.
