Preparing the photos for this post took me a week. Apparently I am totally out of shape when it comes to blogging. I’m pretty happy to reach the moment when I can sit and write the text. This is my favorite part of blogging.
Heavy metals was the Urban Decay’s Christmas palette. Right after the holidays, it was discounted everywhere online and I’m not sure if you can still find it. Urban Decay are constantly coming up with new palettes and the worst part is that I want them all.
The reason I decided to get Heavy metals is that I read that the formulation is similar to the formulation of NARS Hardwired eyeshadows (you can read more about them here) and I'm a huge fan of those. The finish is metallic and the formula feels a little wet. Heavy metals is exactly what I wanted it to be and I use it daily since I got it.
The packaging
The packaging is basically screaming Urban Decay - metallic purple. It's very pretty, but situating the mirror in the middle like that was not a good idea. Every time I use it I end up sticking my finger in one of the colours.
The shades
There are 10 neutrals and 10 bright shades in this palette. All of them are very wearable. The brights are gorgeous and I was pleasantly surprised by them. Swatched, these eyeshadows look amazing. You can achieve an interesting look with just a single shade of this palette and the combinations are endless.
The formulation
The finish is metallic, these are very similar to NARS Hardwired eyeshadows. I had issues with fallout with only 2-3 of the colours. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the quality. All of the eyeshadows are very pigmented and look amazing when you apply them on the lid. This palette is definitely worth the splurge because this formulation can't be found in the drugstore and it's pretty rare in general.
I really like this palette and it's quite disappointing that it was a limited edition product. I think it's quite unique. The only problem I can point out is that you need to reach out to other palettes for mattes.
P.S. The palette is bought with my own money and the opinion is personal.
