What I read this month: March and April 2018

I am once again behind with this series, but I’m determined to do these reading updates every month (or two). Today’s post is about the books I read in March and April. The next one in the series will be about what I read in May. So here are the books:

1. Dead of winter (The Arcana Chronicles #3) by Kresley Colethree stars

Page number: 320

Publication date: January 2015

Translated in Bulgarian: no

I decided to read this book because I was still dealing with my Cruel prince book hangover and I needed a dynamic storyline. Dead of Winter is the third book in The Arcana Chronicles, the first book in the series Poison princess is quite popular in the blogging world. I really enjoy Kresley Cole's writing and I would read more of her books. The Arcana Chronicles is a hand full of everything that teenagers love - the Apocalypses, a dystopian society, a love story, supernatural powers. Believe me, it's never boring with these books. Dead of Winter is not the last book in the series, but it's going to be the last one for me. The drama is too much, it reads like a soap opera after the second book.

2. The boy I hate by Taylor Sullivanthree stars

Page number: 280

Publication date: August 2017

Translated in Bulgarian: no

This is a love novel, I read it and I can't even recall what it is about. The storyline starts in the main characters' teen years and continues when they are in their twenties. The relationship was not very toxic, which is the biggest issue in this genre. I recommend it if you read love novels, but it's not more than that.

3. The wife between us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanenthree stars

Page number: 352

Publication date: January 2018

Translated in Bulgarian: yes

This book is one of the best-sellers this year. In the beginning, the story really resembles The girl on the train. I was quite impressed with the twist, it was well thought. The storyline is about a super successful man, his ex wife and his new bride to-be. In the middle of the story, I was ready to give The wife between us five stars. The book is well written and it's a page turner. I was slightly disappointed at the end because there were too many coincidences and the story is nothing new. The wife between us is not very original, but it's written craftily. The reading experience is enjoyable and overall I recommend it. This is one of those stories about the perfect looking family. We as women really like them, don't we.

4. Broken Beautiful Hearts by Kami Garciathree stars

Page number: 432

Publication date: August 2017

Translated in Bulgarian: no

Kami Garcia is one of the authors of Beautiful creatures. Broken beautiful hearts is based on her own personal experience, it's about a toxic relationship. I watched a video where Kami Garcia talked about the book. She explained that she had changed her story and made the main character to be quite confident. She wished she had been like that back then. I understand her motives, but sadly it has ruined the book. The main character Peyton goes to live with relatives after her boyfriend pushes her and the knee injury jeopardises her sport career. She meets a new love interest. There are more obstacles in her new relationship, which distracts the reader from the main issue. The book is easy to read but I expected more.
