I was surprised when I found out that L’Orèal has released their lipsticks in collaboration with Balmain in Bulgaria. In general, we don’t get such collections here. I own way too many lipsticks and at the beginning I decided to skip the Balmain lipsticks. But then I had a bad day, went to the drugstore and bought the shade Confidence. This is the shade, which looks so gorgeous on Doutzen Kroes in the ad.
There are some crazy lipstick colors in this collection. The ones in the black packaging are supposed to be more neutral.
The packaging
The packaging looks pretty, but if you look closely you’ll notice a lot of defects.
The color and the longevity
The shade Confidence is just an effect, it’s not pigmented at all. You can barely see it on the lips, it doesn’t last long either. I had to apply like 10 layers for the swatches.
The formulation
The formulation is quite different from the standard L’Oréal Color Riche formula. I’ve owned quite a few of these lipsticks throughout the years. I’ve always liked them and worn them often. This lipstick is very drying on the lips and has no pigmentation whatsoever.
I have no idea how the other lipsticks from the Balmain collaboration are performing, but this one was a complete disappointment for me. I recommend the standard Color Riche lipsticks before this one.
