Chanel Illusion D'ombre eyeshadows vs. KIKO Supreme eyeshadows

9.02.2015

I haven't written a post in this series for a while. Usually after the success of a high end beauty product the drugstore brands come up with a more affordable dupe rather quickly.

I have oily eyelids and I always have problems with my eyeshadows creasing. Chanel Illusion D'ombre are one of the most long-lasting eyeshadows I've ever tried. I own three shades - 82 Emerveille, 83 Illusoire and 84 Epatant and I adore them. Dior, Lancome and Clarins came up with their versions of this product, but I haven't seen anything like it in the drugstores. When I saw the limited edition KIKO Supreme eyeshadows I had such high hopes and I ordered the shade 01 Posh crystal rose. Here is a little comparison between the two products:

Chanel Illusion D'ombre eyeshadows and KIKO Supreme eyeshadows

Chanel Illusion D'ombre

Packaging - The eyeshadows come in a jar with a brush which I really like for applying eyeshadow on the lower eyelid. You get 3 g. of product.

Formulation - Chanel Illusion D'ombre eyeshadows are quite shimmery, but there is no fallout. Some of the shades like Epatant are more shimmery than others. The eyeshadows are very long-lasting. If you apply an eyeshadow primer underneath them they can last all day even if you have oily eyelids. I've heard that some people have problems with the black shade, but I don't own this one. The colours that I have stay put all day and can even be used as eyeliners. The texture is like a mousse and it's bouncy. The eyeshadows dry out very quickly in the jar which makes them a bad investment.

Colours - Chanel is a brand that dictates trends and just tells you that you should buy this exact shade. All the colours are gorgeous, but I personally would love to see more natural shades. I'll also enjoy a matte version of
this product.

Availability - Chanel Illusion D'ombre eyeshadows are a part of the Chanel permanent makeup range, you can buy them anytime. They also release limited edition shades with their collections.

War: Chanel Illusion D'ombre eyeshadows , KIKO Supreme eyeshadows

KIKO Supreme

Packaging - These eyeshadows also come in jars and you get 3 g. of product. They come with an applicator instead of a brush which is useless for me.

Formulation - At first I thought that the formulation is the same as the formulation of the Chanel Illusion D'ombre eyeshadows, but I was wrong. The texture of KIKO Supreme is a mousse and it is very shimmery. When applied these eyeshadows look beautiful. After 10 minutes the glitter is all over my face. Another problem that I experienced with these eyeshadows is that they slide, they don't stay where I want them to stay. This may be the reason why they come with an applicator instead of a brush. I can't use them as an eyeliner. These eyeshadows are not at all long-lasting and women with oily eyelids won't like them.

Colours - The shade that I have 01 Posh crystal rose is very pretty and it is an everyday shade. There are some beautiful natural shades, but they are all limited edition.

Availability - The KIKO Supreme eyeshadows are a part of a limited edition collection. Sometimes some of the limited edition KIKO products reappear in other collections.

My choice: Chanel Illusion D'ombre. The reason I like these eyeshadows is that they are long-lasting. Too bad that there is still no cheaper alternative for this product.
