I’ve never been a huge fan of the face primers mainly because I am just too lazy. I tried a few in the last couple of months and now I even have a few favourites.
I have to admit that I bought Illamasqua Hydra veil (link) mainly because of the packaging, it’s just so unique. I usually need to use a primer under the long-lasting foundations because they emphasise the dry areas of my skin. Hydra veil is a hydrating gel primer which is targeted towards women with dry skin and it works great with the mattifying foundations. You can see the real magic of this product if you use it underneath powder products. It makes them really long-lasting.
Hydra veil prevents your makeup from looking cakey. When you apply it you feel a cooling sensation on your skin. Hydra veil is a little bit more of an old school primer, it does not even out your skin as the so popular Benefit Porefessional does. My skin type is combination so I have some dry areas and I really like the effect of this product. You get 30 ml. in the packaging.
I got a sample of the other Illamasqua primer Matte veil (link) because I placed my order on their website. This product is targeted towards women with oily skin and it’s mattifying. To be honest I managed to get only two uses out of this sample, but I definitely liked Matte veil. It smells nice, but the scent is not overwhelming and it evens out your skin just like Benefit Porefessional. I really liked the fact that unlike other mattifying primers this one does not dry out my skin and it does not emphasise the dry patches. I don’t have a problem with my skin shining throughout the day so I can’t report anything here. After I use up all the primers that I’ve bought I would definitely consider purchasing Illamasqua Matte veil.
I liked both products and I recommend them!
