I really tried not to buy too much makeup this year in order to reduce my beauty collection. Sadly I am one of the miserable souls who use emotional reasoning when shopping.A month ago something bad happened in my life and I bought a bunch of new stuff in an effort to calm myself down. I purchased almost all beauty products I was trying to resist getting in the last couple of months.
Charlotte Tilbury released some very interesting products this fall. The last year's Christmas palette was quite attractive to me and I regretted not getting it. The colours in this year's Stars in your eyes looked beautiful and I ordered it. My first impression when I got it was disappointment. Then I tried to convince myself that the splurge was worth it and I wore it every day. You can definitely make it work, but to be honest I don't recommend the palette.
What I don't like about it
- The shades are targeted towards women with fair coloured eyes - The palette is divided into four sections, each includes 3 colours chosen by Charlotte for accomplishing easy makeup look. The two darker combos are too reddish and don't look great on brown eyes.
- The eyeshadows are not very pigmented - The mattes and the dark shades are great, but the light colours are disappointing. The Prime shade in the Confident eyes look is basically only sparkles and it has a lot of fallout. The gold eyeshadows are not at all pigmented.
The packaging is pretty and compact, the colours are festive - gold and red. Stars in your eyes is already sold out, but my opinion is that there are better palettes on the market. I used to use Urban Decay Born to run daily before switching to Stars in your eyes and the eyeshadows were so much better quality.
I regret buying the palette. I could definitely go without it and I don't recommend it. You can get a better product for your money.
