After I saw the photos of Vice 4 online I felt relieved, it looked like I won’t be buying any expensive eyeshadow palettes this Christmas. Then Urban Decay surprised us all with their collaboration with Gwen Stefani. I definitely don’t need more eyeshadows, but I adore Gwen. To be honest I bought this palette mainly because of her. The colours looked a little bit boring on the photos online. When I saw this palette in person I still found it to be too neutral. I watched a few YouTube tutorials and I experimented with different combinations. I ended up loving it. You can do more than you think with this palette. After all there are 15 shades in it.
The packaging is very beautiful, it’s inspired by Gwen’s love of black-and-white graphic prints. The palette contains 15 eyeshadows, 1,4 g. each. The shades are also personally chosen by Gwen. You know how in all big palettes there are a few shades that you know you’ll just never wear. This palette contains only the eyeshadows which Gwen would love to wear herself. There are a lot of light and warm toned shades.
The quality of the eyeshadows is really good. The only shade that is not well pigmented is Pop, but it’s really not that bad. It reminds me of the MAC eyeshadows with Lustre finish, just too much fallout.
Surprisingly my favourite shade is the pink called Harajuku. The colour looks scary in the pan, but actually is a light sparkly pink. The eyeshadows in this palette are not powdery at all which is my main concern when it comes to Urban Decay eyeshadows. You also get a good mix of shades - highlighters, transition shades, some dark shades, a few colours, black. The only one that I feel is missing is a matte highlighter.
It’s not easy to resist this palette if you are a fan of Gwen and you wear eyeshadows. Believe me, I tried! The quality is amazing and the eyeshadows are wearable, it’s a good value for money. Sadly it’s a limited edition product so if you want it you need to hurry up.
There will be also new lipsticks in collaboration with Gwen Stefani, they will be out this spring. You get samples of four of them with the palette. Of all the palettes that I own this one has the most beautiful packaging. It can be a gorgeous Christmas gift too.
