books I read in October and November 2014

12.12.2014

I have the bad habit of reading several books at once. In October and November I started a few books but I finished only four. By the end of December I need to finish all eight books that I am currently reading so I can have a fresh start next year. So here are in a few words the books that I read in October and November:

1.The Innovators: How a Group of Hackers, Geniuses, and Geeks Created the Digital Revolutionfive stars
Page number: 560
Publication date: October 2014
Translated in Bulgarian: yes
I wrote a whole post about this book here. It is already published in Bulgarian and it can be a great Christmas present for someone in your life. The book is about the history of the computer and the Internet.

2. Zero to one by Blake Masters and Peter Thielfive stars
Page number: 224
Publication date: September 2014
Translated in Bulgarian: no
Zero to one is one of this year's bestselling business books. It is written by Peter Thiel, who is the founder of PayPal. He was one of the first investors in Facebook, LinkedIn and Yelp. Zero to one contains a lot of tips on how to build a company. This book is a must read for all entrepreneurs. I liked it and I recommend it!

3. In the Afterlight by Alexandra Brackenfive stars
Page number: 544
Publication date: October 2014
Translated in Bulgarian: no
In the Afterlight is the third and final book in The darkest minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken. I love this series and I am a little sad that it is over. I'll probably write a separate post about it. The books are not published in Bulgaria and to be completely honest they are very difficult to find here. Amazon doesn't sell the Kindle editions in Bulgaria, you can get them from Audible as audio books. There are a few novels in the series too, but I wasn't able to find them. The darkest minds is about children with special abilities, it is kind of similar to the TV show Heroes.

4. White hot kiss by Jennifer L. Armentroutfour stars
Page number: 388
Publication date: February 2014
Translated in Bulgarian: no
White hot kiss is the first book in a new series by Jennifer L. Armentrout called The dark elements. At the moment I am reading the second book Stone cold touch. Jennifer L. Armentrout is a very good writer and I haven't read a week book by her, she publishes a lot of books. I wrote about her Lux series here. The dark elements is another urban fantasy story. It's about a girl called Layla who is half demon, half gargoyl. The story takes place in a fantasy world and I'll probably write a post about The dark elements series and describe it in detail there. Layla takes the soul of everyone she kisses and as you can guess her love life is quite a mess. Jennifer L. Armentrout does a great job in creating the characters, the dialogs in this book are very entertaining. I like the second book even more.
